      South China University of Technology (SCUT) is one of China's key universities operating under the direct leadership of the State Ministry of Education. The university, which has a total area of 294 hectares, is situated in Guangzhou, a southern metropolitan in China. The university has two campuses. The North Campus is situated in the university center of Shi Pai, Tianhe District. Named as "Civilized Campus" by the ministry of education, the campus is a propound culture area in beautiful surroundings of lakes and mountains, bluish greenery and luxuriant flowers, traditional buildings and modern architecture. The South Campus is situated in the Higher Education Mega Center in Panyu District. This campus provides an ideal place for study and research with a beautiful environment and advanced facilities, as well as innovation mechanisms and professional management.

      After more than 50 years of development, SCUT has become a multidisciplinary university of high reputation in South China and in the whole country, focusing on engineering, combined with science, also promoting well coordinated development of management, economics, humanities and law. SCUT is presently made up of 23 schools and an Independent School, i.e. Guangzhou Auto College. Subjects currently offered in SCUT cover 5 national key disciplines, 67 bachelor's programs, 75 doctoral programs, 177 master's programs, master's programs of engineering (in 21 fields), master's programs of architecture, master's programs of business administration (MBA, EMBA), master's programs of public administration (MPA), and 15 stations for post-doctoral research. 

      SCUT has a faculty of over 4,500, with 2,213 teaching and researching staff, 3 fellows of China Academy of Science, 2 fellows of China Academy of Engineering, 18 double appointed fellows (honored by two universities), 1 foreign fellow of Russian Academy of Science, 464 professors, 631 associate professors and 1,169 supervisors for postgraduates (including 337 supervisors for doctoral students). More than 83.8% teaching and researching staff has received master or higher degrees. The excellent faculty and good environment of the university have attracted a large number of students. Presently, SCUT has over 66,010 students, including 12,859 master's degrees candidates and doctoral candidates, 24,762 undergraduates, 14,367 continuing education students, 13,390 on-line education students and 632 international students, which have formed a complete talent cultivation system of bachelor degree, master degree and doctor degree.

      華南理工大學是直屬教育部的全國重點大學,坐落在南方名城廣州,占地面積294多萬平方米。校園分為兩個校區,北校區位于廣州市天河區石牌高校區,校園內湖光山色、綠樹繁花,民族式建筑與現代化樓群錯落有致,文化底蘊深厚,是教育部命名的"文明校園",南校區位于廣州市番禺區廣州大學城內,是一個環境優美、設施先進、管理完善、制度創新的現代化校園。南北校區交相輝映,是莘莘學子求學的理想之地。

      經過50多年的建設和發展,華南理工大學成為立足華南,面向全國,以工見長,理工結合,管、經、文、法多學科協調發展的綜合性大學。目前,學校共設有23個學院,1個獨立學院(廣州汽車學院);14個博士學位授權一級學科,30個碩士學位授權一級學科,75個博士點,177個碩士點,2個一級學科國家重點學科,3個二級學科國家重點學科,7個一級學科廣東省重點學科, 12個二級學科廣東省重點學科,有工程碩士(21個領域)、建筑學碩士、工商管理碩士(MBA、EMBA)、公共管理碩士(MPA)、風景園林碩士、法律碩士6個專業學位授予權,有15個博士后科研流動站,67個本科招生專業。

      學校治學嚴謹,秉承"博學慎思,明辨篤行"的校訓,形成了"團結、勤奮、求實、創新"的優良校風,堅持"重人品、厚基礎、強能力、寬適應"的人才培養指導思想和高素質、"三創型"(創新、創造、創業)、國際化專門人才的培養目標,實行產學研一體化的培養模式,著力培養創新型、復合型人才。2007年我校本科畢業生就業率為98.16%,畢業研究生就業率為96.15%。建校50多年來,學校為國家培養了高等教育各類學生16萬人,一大批畢業校友成為我國科技骨干、著名企業家和領導干部,學校被社會譽為"工程師的搖籃"、"企業家的搖籃".

      The School of International Education (SIE) is an international student administrative organization of South China University of Technology (SCUT), which integrates with international student education, administration and the academic research. Since its establishment in July 2004, SIE has enjoyed steady growth and has expanded considerably in both its number of student and teaching and researching strength.

      華南理工大學國際教育學院于2004年7月16日掛牌成立,成為華南理工大學負責來華留學教育、管理、科研一體化的管理機構,包括對外招生宣傳、學生咨詢、簽證管理、學籍管理、宿舍管理、漢語教學、教學科研及其他后勤服務等。

      學院下設學院辦公室、招生及項目辦公室、留學生管理辦公室、對外漢語教學辦公室以及跨文化傳播研究中心。學院全體工作人員均接受過專門訓練,教學經驗豐富,責任心強,富有進取精神。學院師資力量雄厚,幾乎所有教職員工都擁有碩士及以上學歷。其中,行政人員當中在海外獲得碩士及以上學歷的約占80%,教學人員當中具有博士學位、高級職稱的達30%,有的還曾在海外長期從事過國際教育等領域的研究,經驗相當豐富。

      Chinese Language Programmes

      I. General Chinese (Basic/Intermediate/Advanced)
      Duration: Long-Term: 1 semester or 1 academic year
                   Short-Term: 1-2 months
      Each academic year has two semesters. Applicants can choose an appropriate course level according to their Chinese language proficiency.

      Basic
      Students are expected to know basic phones and tones, and use about 3,000 words and 1,600 Chinese characters. At the end of the course, students should have a basic command in listening, speaking, reading, and writing which meets the needs of daily living and study.

      Chinese Characters, Cantonese, Scientific Chinese, Chinese Culture, Kong Fu,Calligraphy

      Intermediate
      Students will be able to use about 5,200 words and about 2,200 Chinese characters. At the end of the course students should have a good command in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and can deal with undergraduate courses.

      Advanced
      Students will be able to use about 7,000 words and 4,000 Chinese characters. Students should be able to listen to Chinese radio programs, read Chinese newspapers, and deal with postgraduate study in Chinese. The language skills will enable students to be fully involved in social and work activities such as tourism and business.

      II.Special Chinese Language Courses
      Chinese Characters
      Chinese characters have unique and beautiful figures. We explain the structure, figure and history of some Chinese characters and the relationships among them. By learning this, you will have a deeper and broader understanding of Chinese characters.

      Cantonese
      Cantonese is one of the 7 major dialects in China. With a large number of users, it is widely used not only in Guangdong but also in Hong Kong, Macau and overseas Chinese communities. By taking this course, you will be learning daily Cantonese in both speaking and listening.

      Scientific Chinese
      SIE is the first provider of a Scientific Chinese course in China. As the major university of science and technology in China, we provide a strong basis of Scientific Chinese language for international students who will further their degree studies in relevant areas.

      Tutoring for the HSK
      HSK is the Chinese language test designed for foreigners. We provide experienced teachers to assist students with reading, writing, speaking and listening to Chinese, in order to help with the advancement of HSK scores.

      Business Chinese
      This course is especially for foreigners working in the field of business and commerce in Guangdong. It provides flexible hours, as well as intensive study in each class. The task-based language teaching is culturally oriented.
